The Arcadia Valley Parents and Citizens Association is a small group encompassing Eight Families whose children attend Arcadia Valley as well as the Principal, Teacher Aide, two supply Teachers and one community member (a past parent of the school). Although small in stature the Arcadia Valley Parents and Citizen Association is a very active and forwarding thinking group who are always organising functions that will raise money for resources for our school community.
Arcadia Valley State School is a small rural community situated approximately 180 kms from Roma. Our service town is Injune, which is approximately 90kms south of the school. The area is solely dependent on primary production of beef and grain. Because of the distance from any town the Arcadia Valley Parents and Citizens Association also provides social entertainment through their fundraising efforts. We have to be very mindful when raising funds that we are not always targeting the same people. In recent years the Parents and Citizens Association have been trying to focus fundraising ventures away from the local community. The association is very fortunate to have a very strong community profile in the district and have tremendous support for any functions that are held in the community and receive help from many past members of the association. Having no school transport the onus is on parents to provide transportation to sporting and cultural pursuits that the Principal feels will give the children a well-rounded education. Parents are happy to help in providing their children with the chance to have the same participation in such activities that their more closely settled counterparts can enjoy in regional Queensland.
The parents of the Parents and Citizens association feel very fortunate to have a school that is held in such calibre within the Education area. Arcadia Valley School has a current enrolment of 16 children. The children are exposed to a very safe, tolerant and disciplined environment. The resources are second to none with the Parents and Citizens Association yearly contributing funding for computers and technical equipment, the bi-annual camp and books for the Library.
